The Kansas City Chiefs take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4. Let’s take a look at how FanDuel Sportsbook sees it playing out early in the week.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will each be looking to bounce back from ugly Week 3 losses on Sunday Night Football in Week 4. The legacy that is the Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady rivalry has consistently brought fireworks to the stage since 2018.

For their upcoming face-off, however, FanDuel Sportsbook is throwing history out the window. Through three weeks of the 2022 season, there is nothing but question surrounding these two teams and the opening line reflects it.

Chiefs vs Buccaneers odds Week 4

The Chiefs head to Tampa Bay as -2.5 point favorites, and the two teams drew a point total of 45.5. After each team’s Week 3 display, it’s a bit surprising that this game isn’t a straight-up pick-em, but setting the point total at the exact average of Vegas odds makes perfect sense. The Buccaneers are wrestling with a litany of offensive injuries and the Chiefs seem to still be discovering their identity as an offense.

For the Buccaneers, Julio Jones (knee) and Chris Godwin (hamstring) both sat out against the Packers in Week 3 and are facing uphill battles to get back to the field for this week. Mike Evans—who also missed the Packers game while serving a suspension—on the other hand, will be back in action, and will all but certainly be Tom Brady’s leading target on SNF.

The Chiefs are healthy but have an offensive line that appears out of sorts, and disagreeable energy between Patrick Mahomes and Eric Bienemy reared its ugly head on Sunday. Regardless of the strife between the QB and OC, the continuity in Kansas City is something for the Chiefs to lean on. We can only hope that last week’s wrinkles will be ironed out.

Chiefs vs Buccaneers prediction Week 4

Given all of the stipulations surrounding this game, and considering the unique struggles each team is facing, I’m choosing to side with FanDuel. Rather than a classic showdown between all-time great quarterbacks, a low-scoring, defensive battle will unfold in Tampa Bay this Sunday. It may well be the final duel between Mahomes and Brady, and while it is unfortunate to imagine the rivalry ending on a dud, it will lead to the Chiefs getting back on the winning wagon.
