We’ve got some frustrating takeaways from the Week 3 contest between the Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts.

As it turns out, everyone is going to be keen to turn the page on Week 3.

The Kansas City Chiefs, who were 2-0 and sitting alone atop the AFC West, came into Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday with all of the momentum against the Indianapolis Colts, who were themselves on the ropes at 0-1-1 with two miserable performances in a row against two of the lesser teams in the NFL—at least according to preseason prognostications.

Instead, the Chiefs are leaving Indianapolis shaking their heads at their own mistakes. They gifted the Colts their first win of the season with one costly error after another. From the first quarter to the last, the Chiefs’ special teams were anything but. The offense could never get clicking for most of the day, save for a couple of big gains. Even a defense that came up huge on the afternoon for the most part but ended up making a costly penalty to give the Colts new life on their game-winning drive.

In the end, the Colts walked away as 20-17 winners in a game that the Chiefs absolutely deserved to lose. Here are a few very frustrating takeaways on a day that all of us are going to want to forget.

Reid vs. Colts

Let’s be honest: Chiefs Kingdom has seen far too many games like this against the Colts for our liking.

We don’t need to rehash previous meltdowns or unexplainable performances against the Colts, but suffice it to say that Indy has always had Andy Reid’s number even going back to his days in Philadelphia. Somehow even this matchup proved to be a frustrating one for a number of reasons when really it should have been closer to a cakewalk.

Reid is now 3-7 against the Colts in his career and this is not the first time he’s lost despite having the better overall team. You hate to say there’s something odd about playing Indy, but how else do you explain everything out of sync, crazy coaching decisions, an inability for basic special teams skills to come through, and several other oddities?

Chalk this up to another very frustrating loss to the Colts for the Chiefs.
