The Stakes

Again, it seems ridiculous to talk about a week 2 game as a determining factor for the totality of an entire season, but it very well could decide the fate of Kansas City. The facts are, that the Chiefs have an insanely difficult schedule and could drop a few games here and there to talented teams. The Chargers also have a tough schedule, but with a leg up on the Chiefs, that may be all they need.

Chiefs tough games Schedule:

  • Indianapolis Colts
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Las Vegas Raiders x2
  • Buffalo Bills
  • San Francisco 49ers
  • L.A. Rams
  • Cincinnati Bengals
  • Denver Broncos x2.

Chargers tough games Schedule:

  • Cleveland Browns
  • Denver Broncos x2
  • San Francisco 49ers
  • Las Vegas Raiders
  • Miami Dolphins
  • Indianapolis Colts
  • L.A. Rams

It is not a mirage nor is it conjecture. The Chiefs’ schedule is tougher throughout than the Chargers’ schedule even with some of the same opponents. That means that even if the Chiefs get behind the Chargers by one game, it might be a steep climb to get back in front.

While there is uncertainty with every season, the Chargers are a better team than they have been in a long time. The Chiefs simply cannot afford to fall behind this season.
