Three Kansas City Chiefs players who’ve put heavy pressure on Brett Veach
By Matt Conner
Chris Lammons
The conversation around Chris Lammons at this point needs to be separated between the person and the player. If you can leave that much aside—referring to his off the field behavior—the truth is that Lammons deserves to make this Chiefs team.
On Saturday, Lammons put on a bit of a clinic compared to the players around him late in the game. He’s got great instincts. He’s tough and willing and plays with a real fire. There’s a lot to like there for Dave Toub, so it makes sense why someone internally is pounding the table for him. There’s also reason to beleive he could grow into a more productive defender if given reps and experience.
This is the play that everyone will reference for Lammons from Saturday.

However, it’s also important to note that he was effective on special teams and had other key plays that were much tougher to make than this interception.
The rough call here is that it’s reasonable to wonder if Lammons should even have this chance in the first place. It has been delayed but Lammons still has a legal hearing hanging over his head for an alleged incidenet in which he punched and kicked a man last February. Lammons is facing potential battery charges and it’s odd that the Chiefs are even pushing him to compete for a roll when lesser actions have driven men from rosters around the NFL.
Still, despite how anyone might feel about Lammons’ presence on the roster, it’s impossible to deny that he’s doing everything he can to take advantage of the open door.
