Khalen Saunders

Often criticized for being unavailable in his first two seasons, thanks to an elbow injury in 2020 and a back injury last year, defensive tackle Khalen Saunders put his highly regarded but rarely witnessed athleticism on display on Saturday in the Chiefs’ loss to the Bears.

A six-foot tall 325 pound frame moving in space like that is a beautiful sight, particularly in a unit that spent the entire offseason being critiqued for a lack of depth.

Aside from a couple of stuffed runs, this was the most impressive moment of Saunders’ day, but it was damn impressive nonetheless. Imagining a defensive line rotation including that level of speed and athleticism is inspiring for what is to come from the 2022 Chiefs.
