The Kansas City Chiefs are now less than a week away from playing an actual football game. Some people may take issue with calling the preseason an “actual football game”, but two teams play each other, the score is kept, and NFL jobs are on the line. While the final score may not matter, how players perform definitely has an impact on who makes the team.

When the Chiefs take the field on Saturday to play the Chicago Bears it will be fun to get to see Patrick Mahomes complete passes to some of his new wide receivers and to see how their first round draft picks Trent McDuffie and George Karlaftis look, but ultimately those guys are already making the roster. So while some people may start to lose interest once the big names come out, that’s actually when the most important snaps will begin.

We’re now through two weeks of training camp and there are plenty of players that have generated lots of buzz. Joshua Williams has been running with the first string unit. Isiah Pacheco has turned some heads. Justin Watson looks like he could be playing his way onto the roster, etc. In fact, you can read about my own observations from my two days at camp HERE. However, for every player that has been playing better than expected and generating buzz, there are players that are struggling to do so.

Before the start of camp I did my own 53-man roster prediction and I know many of you did your own as well. Some of the players that I went into camp thinking had a very clear road to making the roster and solidifying a role with this team aren’t looking as secure as I once thought. These players need to prove their worth in the preseason games to try and get back in the favor of the coaching staff and build some momentum before roster cuts begin.

Let’s start this list off on the defensive side of the ball with a player that has been on the team for a few seasons now, but has struggled to find playing time.
