Jerrion Ealy

It wouldn’t be fair to bring up Fleet-Davis and not also note the lack of any real buzz for Ealy either.

Here’s the one thing about Fleet-Davis that we didn’t mention before: the expectations for him were super low to begin with. While he was productive with the Terps, he had a poor pre-draft season marked by a slow 40-yard dash (timed in the 4.7+ range) and it’s not as if the Terps maxed out their use of him in five seasons.

Ealy, on the other hand, came into the NFL Draft as an exciting offensive weapon with agility and versatility. Ealy felt like the kind of hybrid player who is redefining the game these days and his return ability only enhanced his stock. He was never going to go early, but the fact he slipped all the way through seven rounds surprised some draft experts.

Given his versatility to play RB or WR, it seemed like Ealy could worm his way onto the roster with special teams value but so far in camp, there’s been next-to-nothing said or heard about Ealy. He’s there. He’s healthy. It’s just that other players at those positions are showing out more than Ealy.
