The rest of the National Football League is likely weeping quietly tonight knowing that Patrick Mahomes is trying to add a behind-the-back pass to the mix.

In only four full seasons as a starting quarterback, Kansas City Chiefs franchise face Patrick Mahomes has already put up an incredible highlight reel of absolutely unforgettable plays.

For the sake of just a bit of review, Mahomes’ greatness can be found in a few phrases known not only in Chiefs Kingdom but across the entirety of the National Football League. There’s Jet Chip Wasp and the left-handed pass. There’s “13 seconds and the diving near-TD pass. Against the Titans alone, there’s the “jump pass” and that incredible 35-yard TD-run.

You get the picture. At this point, every single NFL franchise likely has begun a running list of the moments in which they were embarrassed by the playcalling of Andy Reid and his staff and the overwhelming talent of Mahomes. So just imagine the NFL waking up on Monday to realize that Mahomes has started working on yet another special move.

We’ll let Aaron Ladd give us the straight shot here of Mahomes working on his latest arsenal.

The importance of the NFL offseason, of these moments to work on chemistry and try out new ideas, should not be lost on the average fan. Mahomes and Reid can take these chances in key moments with seconds ticking because there are previous reps and experience they are leaning on to execute it properly. And if the Chiefs can add something like a behind-the-back pass on occasion—even once in a key moment—that’s a scary proposition for any outside of Arrowhead.

As for Chiefs Kingdom, this is the sort of highlight that makes all of us laugh out loud with excitement knowing that another exhibition of Mahomes’ greatness is on tap in the months ahead.
