Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is among the first to report to training camp for the Kansas City Chiefs and he sounds ready to go.
While some NFL teams have already begun the beginning to their preseason schedule, the Kansas City Chiefs are among those franchises that are just getting things underway. Patrick Mahomes apparently can’t wait to get moving.
Mahomes, the Chiefs’ superstar quarterback, made it clear that he’s ready to get back to work for a Chiefs’ team that is one of the league’s most intriguing properties returning to the field for the ’22 season. With so many new faces and a focused youth movement on defense, the Chiefs have a lot of work to do in the next few weeks as training camp gets underway.
The Chiefs are one of a few teams who are still leaving the nest of their home stadium to have a communal experience away for training camp, and this week, the Chiefs will meet in St. Joseph, Missouri to gather and practice on the campus of Missouri Western State University. Mahomes and quarterbacks are the first veterans to arrive on July 22 along with all rookies. Veterans are required to report by the 26th, giving the younger players a bit of a headstart as they vie for competitive roles on the roster.
If you’re wondering what the mindset is for one of the league’s most accomplished young players, just know that the competitive juices haven’t stopped flowing as Mahomes posted the following on Twitter the night before he’s set to report:
Training camp officially begins with the first practice of the new season on Wednesday, July 27, in a closed session for Chiefs season ticket holders only.
