Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Coors Light teamed up for an advertisement and commemorative product, all supporting Mahomes’ charity.

In 2022, the NFL still prohibits active players from endorsing a certain beer or drinking beer in advertising. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Coors Light still cleverly teamed up for a special product and cause.

In a simple one-minute video, Mahomes did not endorse Coors Light, the alcoholic beer. Instead, he promoted a new tool for Chiefs fans, The Coors Light—a silver and red flashlight. Do the beer can and the flashlight look eerily similar? Yes, unashamedly so. The “100% flashlight, 0% adult beverage” product looks like something nighttime security guards carry or one a handyman picks up at Home depot. The flashlight is even externally moist, similar to a beer can during commercials.

Fans could buy The Coors Light for a mere $15 at TheCoorsLight.com. Yet, the flashlight was marked out of stock less than four hours after the link went live. Either fans bought it like gangbusters, or it was a limited-edition piece of NFL memorabilia.

Instead of crushing Coors Light on the golf course, Mahomes will have to settle for portable illumination. But, the cheeky advertisement and products are all for a good cause.

All proceeds from The Coors Light support Mahomes’ charity, the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation. Established in 2019, the charity “is dedicated to improving the lives of children. The Foundation supports initiatives that focus on health, wellness, communities in need of resources, and other charitable causes,” according to the foundation’s website.

While the advertisement is hardly world-changing, it is a fun and positive way to break up the offseason’s monotony. Even San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle respected Mahomes’ charitable move.
