Re-selecting the loaded 2017 NFL Draft in which several Hall of Fame-caliber players went in the 1st round alone including two franchise quarterbacks.

The 2017 NFL Draft is one that changed several teams for the better. Two Super Bowl MVPs were selected in this draft as well as a Defensive Player of the Year. A lot of teams were happy with who they drafted in the first round while some would love to take a mulligan.

Let’s re-pick the 1st round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Note: All draft night trades have been undone and the order of this draft is based on the order at the start of the draft.

1. Cleveland Browns: Patrick Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech (Original Pick: Myles Garrett, EDGE, Texas A&M)

This is the most obvious pick of this entire article. Mahomes is both the best and most valuable player to come out of this entire class. Garrett definitely wasn’t a poor pick, as he is a superstar, but quarterback is king in the NFL and there is no way a team will take any non-QB over Mahomes if they are starting from scratch.

2. San Francisco 49ers: Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson (Original Pick (By Chicago): Mitchell Trubisky, QB, North Carolina)

The Niners originally selected Solomon Thomas at the third spot after trading down from two with the Bears. It’s safe to say that both teams involved in this trade did not like what they got out of it. Both players have since left their original teams in search of a fresh start. Watson, despite his legal issues, is a franchise quarterback and the 49ers would be much better off (on the field) with this pick than with Jimmy Garoppolo.

3. Chicago Bears: TJ Watt, EDGE, Wisconsin (Original Pick (By San Francisco): Solomon Thomas, DL, Stanford)

Mitchell Trubisky did not work out in Chicago. He never quite lived up to the hype of being the 2nd overall pick and is now in Pittsburgh. This pick was really difficult to make. I could have gone with any of the two following picks but I landed on TJ Watt since I view him as the best non-QB from this draft today.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars: George Kittle, TE, Iowa (Original Pick: Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU)

I struggled between Kittle and Myles Garrett but landed on the former because the Jaguars (at the time) did not have a huge need for a pass rusher as their defense was elite. Leonard Fournette had his moments with the Jaguars but George Kittle would have been a bona fide superstar in Jacksonville.
