A clip of Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire working out reminds us that he’s actually healthy this time around.

This is shaping up to be a big year, one way or another, for Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The good news is that he’s doing everything he can to tip the scales in a positive direction, and you can see the daily work he’s putting in with the latest workout video to surface online.

The Chiefs invested a first-round pick in Edwards-Helaire only two offseasons ago, but the shine wore off fairly quickly for some fans as CEH has struggled to stay healthy and on the field. The Chiefs haven’t exactly featured much of a rushing attack with Patrick Mahomes under center, but they’ve also not utilized Edwards-Helaire in the ways expected of him in this passing attack.

Earlier this offseason, however, Edwards-Helaire joined the Arrowhead Addict podcast and spoke honestly for the first time about his injury concerns from a year ago. Namely, he said that he’d had gall bladder surgery after the season and even got down to 160 lbs. in the offseason, meaning that he was down nearly 50 pounds from his listed weight. Instead of having a full offseason to grow into his second year, Edwards-Helaire was trying to recover from surgery and then gain back all the mass he’d lost in the process.

This year, things are different for the LSU product, and Edwards-Helaire is committed to showing what he can do. On Thursday, we saw a workout vid giving glimpses of the work CEH is putting in this offseason.

Edwards-Helaire still has two more years on his rookie deal, and in a year where the Chiefs offense will be forced to evolve following the trade of Tyreek Hill, we’re rooting for Edwards-Helaire to find his footing and really become a key offensive component in ’22.
