Let’s take a look at the complete preseason schedule for the Kansas City Chiefs heading into the 2022 season.

While we’re still several weeks (months even) before the start of the regular season, the truth is that real NFL action will be here before you know it. The NFL preseason is set to kick off with the annual Hall of Fame game on August 4 between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Las Vegas Raiders, which basically means if you can wait one more month, you should start to feel that itch scratched after a long offseason.

That said, NFL fans are more spoiled than ever before. Upstart leagues like the USFL and XFL are trying to provide real action all season long, and the league has learned how to generate real momentum and excitement from the draft, the schedule release, and the start of free agency like never before. Somehow the NFL is able to dominate sports coverage for most of the calendar year despite only playing in the fall and winter.

Back to the schedule. As training camp creeps closer and the preseason comes into view, it’s time to get a good look at the Kansas City Chiefs and what to expect. Let’s look at the full preseason schedule for the Chiefs:

Week 1: @ Chicago Bears, Sat. August 13 @ 12:00 p.m. CT

The Chiefs open the year on the road against the Bears in what could be a good preview for both sides. Remember, former Chiefs GM Ryan Poles is in charge in Chicago and he’s likely going to be waiting on a few players to be waived by Kansas City. At the same time, the Bears are likely to sell around the NFL’s trade deadline and the Chiefs might be interested in an addition at that time (Robert Quinn, anyone?).

Week 2: vs. Washington Commanders, Sat. August 20 @ 3:00 p.m. CT

The Chiefs host two opponents within less than a week to close out the preseason and it begins with a visit from the Washington Commanders. No one is going to be excited to watch Carson Wentz, but it’s hard to ignore the intriguing array of weapons here—Curtis Samuel, Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Amari Brown, and Antonio Gibson. Could be fun to watch the Chiefs’ defense early here.

Week 3: vs. Green Bay Packers, Thu. August 25 @ 7:00 p.m. CT

The Chiefs close out the preseason with a visit from the Packers, but the quick turnaround nature of this game basically guarantees that it will feature fringe roster players only. The competition for the final few roster spots will be fierce, so it should be entertaining either way. A lot of teams will be watching the Chiefs to see who might wiggle free on waivers.
