The Kansas City Chiefs have undergone a lot of changes to their entire roster over the past several months. They saw the departure of six-time Pro Bowler wide receiver Tyreek Hill via trade, safety Tyrann Mathieu left via free agency, linebacker Anthony Hitchens was released in February, and wide receivers Demarcus Robinson and Byron Pringle left for new teams in free agency as well.

One can argue that no area on the defensive side of the ball saw more change this offseason than the secondary, particularly the cornerback room. They witnessed the departure of a multi-year starter and a one-year depth player. They also spent several selections on corners in the draft.

Where do the Kansas City Chiefs stand in the cornerback room for the 2022 NFL season? Who is safe to make the roster and who will fight for a spot?

The Chiefs spent seven selections in the 2022 NFL Draft on defensive players, three of them were corners and two more were safeties. General manager Brett Veach clearly felt that the secondary had to be addressed this offseason, which explains why five selections were invested in it during the draft as well as a significant free-agent signing at safety.

Let’s take a look at the cornerback group in particular. Who did they lose? Who did they gain? And who will return in 2022?
