Carlos Dunlap, EDGE

Similar to Joseph, Carlos Dunlap is a 2010 draft pick who is likely not far away from retirement, but that doesn’t mean he has nothing to add to the Chiefs pass rush.

Dunlap has had an extremely good career for a 54th overall pick. In 186 regular season and playoff games, he has 96.5 career sacks, including 9.5 in 2021. Even with his high sack totals, he’s also been a very good run defender on the edge for both the Bengals and Seahawks.

Dunlap was one of the best defenders on Bengals teams, in the peak Marvin Lewis years 2011-2015, that had its fair share of defensive talent, like Geno Atkins, Pacman Jones, and Vontaze Burfict.

Dunlap may be past his prime but it’s not unrealistic to assume he could be a solid depth addition for a team looking for all the help they could get at the defensive end. Even though the Kansas City Chiefs haven’t had the best history with former Seattle defensive linemen (*cough* Frank Clark and Jarran Reed *cough*), I wouldn’t be opposed if the Chiefs opted to sign him to a one-year, incentive-heavy deal to help aid their pass rush concerns.
