Tyreek Hill knew how to tease a podcast but he also says a “bunch of people overreacted” to some controversial clips released to promote it.

It’s been a very interesting offseason when it comes to Tyreek Hill and the Kansas City Chiefs. The shocking blockbuster deal that sent the star wide receiver to the Miami Dolphins has given analysts plenty of fodder for commentary this offseason, and it also gave some for the superstar himself as he went forward with a new media venture.

In recent weeks, Hill has been teasing a new podcast on the way entitled It Needed To Be Said. Early clips previewing material on the show feature a co-host in Julius Collins and Hill along with Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, participating in conversations detailing the offseason trade and more.

When the Chiefs dealt Hill away back in March, it was a shock to everyone given that both sides were reportedly deep into talks on a new long-term extension. However, as the market shifted to accommodate new deals, including a ceiling-setter from Davante Adams and the Raiders, Hill’s costs began to go up mid-negotiations. Just like that, the Chiefs were forced to call an audible, and Miami offered up a healthy return of draft picks in return.

Clips from Hill’s new podcast seemed to insinuate that the Chiefs had tried to suppress the wideout’s free-agent value by not using him. While no one has heard the full context of the conversation at this stage, Hill has tried to explain it away by saying it was simply a query posed by his co-host and nothing more. Earlier this week, Hill spoke again about the controversial clip from a youth football camp.

"“I just feel like a bunch of people overreacted,” he said. “My co-host was just posing a question.”"

At this point, Hill knows he has to tease more than what’s on the surface if anyone is going to pay attention to the podcast since it would be a boring episode to hear a player simply admit the facts as we already knew them. That said, the clips that have emerged were cleverly edited to elicit the exact response they have. To that end, Hill knows that people didn’t overreact. They reacted the exact way that everyone involved wanted them to.

The first episode of It Needed To Be Said is scheduled to drop on June 10.
