The Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Honor is filled with some of football’s biggest names. Who should be considered for this hallowed hall next?
Kansas City Chiefs fans have been lucky enough to see some of football’s best players as Chiefs. Defensive tackle Buck Buchanan, tight end Tony Gonzalez, and linebacker Derrick Thomas spent their best years in a Chiefs uniform. Each made his mark on the franchise and is rightfully enshrined in the team’s Hall of Honor.
The Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Honor opened at Arrowhead Stadium in 2010, allowing fans to walk amongst pieces of football history. The hall educates visitors about the Chiefs’ AFL origins, how the Hunt family helped build the NFL, and much more. The Hall of Honor recently underwent a facelift, reopening in 2021, and Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt described the renovated experience as “a bucket list destination for football fans.”
"“The best outdoor stadium in the NFL in an iconic birthplace of the modern era of the National Football League,” Hunt said. “The new Hall of Honor only adds to Arrowhead’s legendary status, and I look forward to our great fans enjoying this incredible space for many years to come.”"
It is a fitting setting where fans can remember some of the franchise’s best players. Kansas City has enshrined 49 franchise greats since 1971, ranging from players to coaches. Thousands of players have donned a Chiefs uniform since the franchise’s start. But, only one will be the 50th player added to the Hall of Honor. Who could be enshrined next in 2022?
