KC Chiefs schedule: Previewing primetime games for 2022
By Matt Conner
How many primetime games are scheduled for the KC Chiefs in 2022?
The National Football League has finally announced the 2022 regular-season schedule, which means we finally have a read on where and when the Kansas City Chiefs will play in the coming season. As with most years in the Andy Reid era, the Chiefs are once again primetime favorites—tied for the NFL lead with five total games this season.
We’re not sure if there’s a cap on just how many games a team can play under the bright lights of a standalone night game, but every broadcast partner of the NFL naturally wants to have some taste of the Chiefs on their viewing calendar. From Reid’s sideline presence to the theatrics of Patrick Mahomes to the game’s best tight end in Travis Kelce, the Chiefs have been essential viewing in the league for the last several years.
This year will be a bit different after the team traded away the game’s most dangerous offensive weapon to the Miami Dolphins in the Tyreek Hill trade. In his place are a number of new faces at wide receiver—from Skyy Moore to Marquez Valdes-Scantling to JuJu Smith-Schuster—so part of the thrill of watching K.C. this year will be about the new-look offense and how they will adjust without a superstar wideout.
As for the defense, it should be much improved after an offseason in which the entire secondary has been rebuilt, the linebackers have been bolstered, and George Karlaftis has been installed as the new cornerstone end opposite Frank Clark.
Here’s a look at the games in which the Chiefs will be seen in primetime in 2022.
