LB Jack Cochrane

Certainly a fan favorite, South Dakota linebacker Jack Cochrane is already exciting without even hitting the field.

Cochrane’s Midwestern roots and hard-nosed play style intrigue fans and interest Kansas City. The team has some room for depth in the position, despite drafting Wisconsin linebacker Leo Chenal at 103rd overall.

Cochrane is a fundamentally sound player, excelling in pass coverage and cleaning up tackles. He posted two 100-tackle seasons for South Dakota and four interceptions in the 2021 season alone. Cochrane was a three-time team captain during his four years, speaking to his leadership qualities.

He was not a highly-touted prospect in the NFL draft, primarily due to his lack of long speed and underwhelming size. However, Kansas City has made similarly profiled players excel in the defense, only exciting fans further. He is a great competitor, something that Kansas City has prioritized in this rookie class.

Cochrane is a high-octane player and will certainly excite fans this offseason and preseason.
