The Kansas City Chiefs continue to utilize their 30 allotted pre-draft visits to get to know various prospects before the 2022 NFL Draft at the end of April. The latest NFL hopeful to try to turn heads at Arrowhead Stadium is a safety prospect from Wake Forest in Nasir Greer.
Per NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, Greer is set to hang out at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday.
Greer is a 6’0″, 201 lb. safety prospect who decided to forgo his final season of college eligibility in the ACC to enter the NFL Draft. He had the talent to earn plenty of starting reps early in his career even as a freshman and he blossomed in his sophomore season for the Demon Deacons, but injuries took hold over the last couple of years, which significantly altered his pro trajectory.
Wake Forest safety Nasir Greer is headed to Arrowhead on Monday for a pre-draft visit with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Greer is likely positioned to go in the draft’s latest rounds, in which the Chiefs have four slots in the seventh, or undrafted overall, but that hasn’t stopped bright young players from emerging in K.C. in years past, including defensive tackle Turk Wharton or running back Darrel Williams.
For the Chiefs, the primary reason to bring in Greer would be to check his medicals and the status of a torn ACL that limited him to nine games played over the last two seasons. Greer would have enhanced his draft stock significantly if he’d returned healthy for Wake Forest in 2022, but given the uncertainty there, he decided to take a chance this April.
For the Chiefs, there is definite room for someone to show up strong at the safety position, and Greer’s prior experience at both corner and safety helps given that K.C. likes versatile defensive backs. That said, there’s a long road ahead for Greer if he hopes to hear his name selected. Fortunately, a visit to Arrowhead is the portal into making that happen and the Chiefs are at least interested enough to bring him in.
