From the moment they acquired a bit more cap space with the trade of Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs have been remarkably busy trying to sort through some free agent options at various positions. Apparently, one player drawing their interest is veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

The latest rumors from NFL reporter Jeffrey Chadiha gave a few updates on players in whom the Chiefs have showcased an interest, but the biggest news of all was the rumor that the Chiefs were into the idea of signing Gilmore. Chadiha notes that the price tag is too high at present but the veteran could come into play if he lowers his demand in free agency.

The Kansas City Chiefs have shown reported interest in free agent cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

Beyond Gilmore. Chadiha also updates fans on the latest with running back Ronald Jones and wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

When it comes to Jones, Chadiha says the team “feels good” about signing him. Nothing is official yet, but Jones would be an excellent partner to pair with Clyde Edwards-Helaire in order to make up for the loss of Darrel Williams and Jerick McKinnon in free agency.

As for Valdes-Scantling, the Green Bay Packers were reportedly pressing to bring him back, so it’s uncertain whether MVS is even available for the Chiefs to sign. Chadiha seems to intimate as much when he says that the team is “50-50” to sign him.

As for Gilmore. he would go a long way toward a secondary that has watched fellow corners like Charvarius Ward, Mike Hughes, and Chris Lammons leave. Gilmore, who will be 32-years-old, played in 9 games last year for the Carolina Panthers. He had 16 tackles and 2 interceptions.
