In a day with plenty of activity already, the Kansas City Chiefs are also hosting free agent running back Ronald Jones for a visit to Arrowhead Stadium, per NFL reporter Aaron Wilson.

Jones should be a familiar name as a running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the last four years. He was the second round selection for the Bucs in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The Chiefs have already traded Tyreek Hill earlier in the day on Wednesday and were reportedly hosting Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a free agent visit as well.

Veteran running back Ronald Jones is in Kansas City for a visit with the Chiefs on Wednesday.

Jones was used as a rotational piece in the Buccaneers’ backfield last season with Leonard Fournette also around behind Tom Brady. He had 428 rushing yards on 101 carries and 4 touchdowns. He enjoyed a career year in 2020 when the Bucs leaned on him in a heavier role with 978 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns on 192 carries—good for a 5.1 yards/carry average.

For the Chiefs, Darrel Williams and Jerick McKinnon have both hit free agency this spring, which has left Clyde Edwards-Helaire as the lead back with very little behind him. The Chiefs did bring back exclusive rights free agent Derrick Gore, but Jones would be an excellent addition to the offensive mix.

Jones has averaged 4.5 yards per carry in his four-year career with an additional 76 catches for 571 receiving yards to show he can handle some of the receiving load out of the backfield as well.
