The Kansas City Chiefs have been rewarded with nine official picks, including two compensatory picks, in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft.

The official counts are out for this year’s compensatory picks heading into the National Football League’s first-year player draft, which means every team can now know exactly where and when they will be selecting prospects just over a month from now.

The Kansas City Chiefs in particular were awarded two official compensatory picks, giving them nine overall selections in the 2022 NFL Draft, including three in the top 103 picks. The Chiefs were given an extra third-round pick for both this year and next when they lost executive Ryan Poles, who was hired away by the Chicago Bears to be the team’s next general manager.

The Chiefs have also traded away some other picks in recent trades, so they will be a bit thin in the early going of Day 3 when rounds four through seven commence. The Chiefs traded their original fifth-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens in the Orlando Brown Jr. deal from a year ago. in addition, the team’s sixth-round pick was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a half season of Melvin Ingram‘s services before the trade deadline last October.

That said, the Chiefs landed an extra seventh-round pick through the compensatory process but the league also noted that the Chiefs also had another pick coming to them but there were simply too many being handed out and the Chiefs were the first team after the cutoff of 32 total compensatory picks awarded. The Chiefs signed Joe Thuney last spring but lost Tanoh Kpassagnon to the Saints, wide receiver Sammy Watkins to the Ravens, and linebacker Damien Wilson to the Jaguars.

At this point, here is the complete list of Chiefs draft picks in the 2022 NFL Draft:
