KC Chiefs: Free agent signings who make most sense

Every year, the Kansas City Chiefs surprise us with general manager Brett Veach at the helm. By now, Chiefs Kingdom should be used to Veach’s aggressive approach, a swing-for-the-fences mentality that has allowed him to remake every position groups on the fly. How many teams struggle to protect their quarterback year after year? Meanwhile, Veach solved the Chiefs woes in one offseason’s worth of moves.
Going forward, the Chiefs are likely to surprise us all again with their offseason approach, but it could also be a good time for Veach to become rather sensible. After all, the pieces are in place for the team to compete for a Super Bowl year after year, and what’s needed now is a series of smart financial decisions that allow the team to shore up some weaknesses and add depth to important roles.

While it’s exciting to think about big-time surprises and blockbuster deals, the truth is that the Chiefs can get quite a bit better if they just follow the obvious bread crumbs. Free agency is already littered with some possibilities that make loads of sense. It’s best for the Chiefs not to overthink things and instead take what might come easy (or easier) to them than others.
