The Indianapolis Colts and Eric Fisher were hoping to work something out before free agency began for the NFL offseason, but reports say that the two sides were unable to come to an agreement. That means Fisher will be a free agent for the second spring in a row.
Fisher signed with the Colts last spring with a one-year, $8.3 million deal after being released by the Kansas City Chiefs.
It will be interesting to see how the market plays out for Fisher at this point in his career after a year of such mixed results for Fisher in Indianapolis. Fisher was coming off of a serious postseason injury to his Achilles last year, and it was amazing that he could even come back as early as he did for Indy. That said, he also struggled at times against the league’s better pass rushers and teams might be wary of his skill set.
The Colts and Eric Fisher were unable to come to terms on an agreement to remain in Indianapolis.
That said, the fact that the Colts were interested in having him back speaks volumes and coming off of a fully healthy offseason will be key for Fisher to get back to form. He was a late bloomer for the Chiefs, and it should be noted that he reached the Pro Bowl in two of his last three seasons with Kansas City.
Fisher first entered the league with the Chiefs as the top overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft and held down the team’s left tackle role for eight seasons. He was an ironman until he had to step aside shortly before the Super Bowl in 2020 and could be a solid investment for a team up front if he’s feeling 100 percent.
