Sometimes the best way into one football league is to find success in another.

Just this offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs have signed a few players from the Canadian Football League after holding a series of workouts and free agent visits earlier this winter. The result was the signing of a new pass rusher in Jonathan Woodard and wide receivers in Justin Watson and Brandin Dandridge.

Felton Davis is hoping to take the same circular path after already trying to catch on with the Chiefs and other teams in the NFL. On Monday, the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL signed Davis and former Denver Broncos wide receiver Brendan Langley to the roster.

Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Felton Davis has found a new home in the Canadian Football League in Calgary.

The Chiefs originally signed Davis as an undrafted free agent following the 2019 NFL Draft in which the former Michigan State receiver was passed over. It wasn’t all that surprising for Davis considering he’d torn his Achilles during his senior year which abbreviated his season for a Spartans team that didn’t generate all that much passing production in the first place (Cody White led the team with 555 yards).

Davis had 474 yards on 31 catches and 4 touchdowns during his final season at Michigan State, and the Chiefs likely appreciated his size and length at 6’3″ as a rookie flyer. Unfortunately he suffered a shoulder injury in the preseason and the Chiefs placed him on IR. He was released the following June in another minor transaction.
