Per FanSided reporter Matt Verderame, the Kansas City Chiefs are expected to bring back offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy for a 10th season with the team overall and his fifth season as the team’s O.C.

The Chiefs were scheduled to hold an honest conversation this week among all parties involved to check in on Bieniemy’s future with the team. Bieniemy has been courted by several teams for a potential head coaching opening only to be rejected in the end. Over the last four years, Bieniemy has interviewed with nearly half of all NFL franchises yet he’s remained on the Chiefs sidelines since 2013.

This offseason, the only teams to express an interest in bringing him in were the New Orleans Saints, who instead went with promoting defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, and the Denver Broncos, who imported Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

Coming into this offseason, rumors swirled around Bieniemy’s future with the team, wondering if he would be back for another year or whether he might want to pursue other opportunities away from the shadow of Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. Fair or not, the market has spoken to date and it was clear that some reflection was needed to consider his future career choices.

Verderame reported earlier on Thursday that the meeting between Bieniemy and Reid took place and things went positive. Then came the following report:

Also according to Verderame, Bieniemy can even keep his options open in the meantime in case an unexpected offer comes along and he wants to pursue it. However, Chiefs Kingdom should expect to see Bieniemy back on the sidelines once again as the Chiefs prepare to make another Super Bowl run and knock the Cincinnati Bengals from their perch as reigning AFC champions.
