Three reasons to be optimistic for KC Chiefs vs Bengals
By Josh Fann
The Arrowhead Advantage
I believe that this game being played at Arrowhead is a huge factor. This might sound corny, but I think that part of the poor defensive performance from the Chiefs’ first meeting with the Bengals was because that game was on the road and the crowd wasn’t into it for the Chiefs. It was a gloomy day in the middle of Cincinnati and the Chiefs probably did not give an A+ effort.
Now, the Chiefs faithful will have an opportunity to motivate the team after Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow gave them bulletin material by saying SEC stadiums are louder than some NFL stadiums. I’m not sure which stadiums Burrow is referring to, but Arrowhead is built differently and Chiefs fans are prepared to make things difficult for his offense to operate.
The Bengals are a young team, but I don’t think this is their year. This year was a great step forward for them but I find it unlikely they are going to come into the Chiefs’ house with 70,000+ roaring in support of Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs who have a ton of experience in this game and just toppled the Bills in one of the best games of all time. You don’t win that game in the fashion that you did to lose this one at home to the Bengals.
When the drum starts banging and the chop starts reigning, the big boys will come out to play and the Chiefs will get the job done thanks to home-field advantage.
