Two things are true as the Kansas City Chiefs wake up this morning preparing to host the Buffalo Bills.

First, the Bills dominated the Chiefs the last time out—and that game was also at Arrowhead Stadium. Second, the Chiefs weren’t remotely the same team they are today, especially on defense.

The Chiefs were a bit of a mess the last time they saw the Bills. That’s not to take anything away from that early-season victory, since Buffalo definitely earned with an intense performance by a team that was clearly better that day against the Chiefs. However, the Chiefs were also a last-place team in the AFC, far from their present perch atop their division in the AFC West. The defense has improved dramatically, in particular, and should provide Josh Allen and company with a much more compelling contest in the Divisional Round.

With a trip to the AFC Championship game on the line, no team is going to be accused of taking the other lightly. That said, it’s important for Buffalo to know they’re up against a different team this time around. Here are the five biggest changes on defense for the Chiefs since they took the field at Arrowhead back in Week 5.
