KC Chiefs learn a few important lessons in win over Steelers
By Matt Conner
Let’s be clear: There’s so much Chiefs Kingdom to celebrate from a win like their opening round win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night from the league’s Super Wild Card Weekend. From the offense to the defense to special teams, the Chiefs completely overwhelmed the visiting Steelers save for a miserable first quarter for both teams in which only the defenses were flexing. From there, it was all Chiefs.
For our purposes, as the Chiefs catch their breath from a 42-21 victory, we did want to highlight a few things that were important. Of course, the country will be talking about the greatness of Travis Kelce, the big-play ability of Tyreek Hill, and the countless heroics from Patrick Mahomes. It’s that way almost every week for the Chiefs.
Even the anecdotes of this game will stand the test of time, as everyone for a generation will remember Nick Allegretti‘s incredible toss of T.J. Watt and subsequent big man touchdown. There was also the play call that gave Travis Kelce the chance to throw a touchdown to Byron Pringle. As we said, there’s a lot to discuss from a game like this.
However, for our purposes, we wanted to recap the game by looking at some key storylines that might go overlooked from the casual fan’s standpoint. Maybe these would be noticed either way, but they’re worth making again if so. It says a lot about where the Chiefs are at and where they’re going this postseason.
