I have to be honest here, I am still not over Sunday. Am I the type of person that holds onto things for an unreasonably long time period? Yes, but Sunday was different. I don’t like to lose and I especially don’t like to lose when there were a series of bad calls at the end of the game. Am I saying it was all on the refs? Of course not, but I’ll get into that later. Before my rant gets out of hand, let’s take a look around the AFC West as we head into the final week of the regular season…

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers faced the Denver Broncos on Sunday in the hopes of keeping their playoff dreams alive. Given that the Chiefs clinched the division, the Chargers are hoping for a coveted wild card spot and needed to win in order to maintain their playoff positioning. The Chargers handled business on Sunday with almost no problems which is what I had expected in the previous matchup. The Chargers handed the Broncos a 34-13 loss and eliminated them from the playoffs.

Herbert had a great day. He threw for two touchdowns and set the Chargers’ single-season record for touchdowns with the following throw:

While Herbert was busy setting records, Andre Roberts helped the Chargers when he returned a kick 101 yards for a score.

In the end, the Chargers head into the final week of the regular season in control of their own destiny. Win and they are in. And it seems likely that the Chargers will find that playoff success. The Chargers face the Raiders on Sunday Night Football in a game that will control the two teams’ destinies. I, personally, am hoping for that weird ending where the Colts lose and the Raiders and Chargers treat this week as a bye…

Unlikely, but it would be awesome. We’ll see what happens come Sunday, but if the Chargers win, it looks like the Chiefs will get them in the Wild Card round of the playoffs which will definitely be must-see-tv…
