The Denver Broncos have signed former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Anthony Gordon in the wake of Teddy Bridgewater’s most recent injury, according to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero.
The Broncos watched Bridgewater leave their last game with a scary head injury that forced him to leave the game on a stretcher. He was diagnosed with a concussion and his status going forward is unknown for now.
If Denver is going to keep their remote postseason chances alive, they must win out in their next three games—each of which comes against an AFC West rival. This week they face the Las Vegas Raiders, followed by the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 17 before hosting the Chiefs in Week 18. It’s a great opportunity for the Broncos going forward but issues at quarterback are never good.

Without Bridgewater in the lineup, the Broncos will turn to Drew Lock for as long as needed which opens up another window of opportunity for him—as long as Bridgewater remains in the team’s concussion protocol.
As for Gordon, he’s a former undrafted free agent out of Washington State who landed with the Seattle Seahawks in 2020 after the draft. He failed to make the active roster and didn’t make the practice squad either. He was homeless in the league until the Chiefs called with a reserve futures deal last January and he remained there with K.C. until this preseason when Shane Buechele clearly won the development QB competition.
Gordon had a visit with the New England Patriots earlier this season but it failed to turn into anything official. The Broncos are now Gordon’s third team.
