External safety options don’t look that great for KC Chiefs

Will Parks
If the Chiefs wanted to bring in some potential help at safety while minimizing any considerable need for time to learn the system or onboard someone, then Will Parks could be the right grab.
The Chiefs added Parks shortly after the 2021 NFL Draft when they failed to make a move in the secondary with one of their six official selections. Parks was already a familiar face from his years with the Denver Broncos, which meant the Chiefs front office had watched Parks twice each season during his four-plus years in Denver.
Parks came into K.C. as a smart player known for his versatility in the Broncos defensive backfield. He can play both safety spots as well as slide into slot corner, and it looked as if he could push the likes of Sorensen or Watt along with BoPete Keyes for some meaningful reps. Unfortunately for Parks, he was cut loose earlier in camp along with another veteran Taco Charlton to give them an early jump in the free-agent market shortly before active rosters were due.
Parks is presently sitting on the practice squad of the San Francisco 49ers, so the Chiefs couldn’t stash him on their own if they wanted. But if they decided to make him part of the active roster, it wouldn’t be hard to poach him at all.
