All’s fair in love and war, right? Former K.C. radio host Nick Wright presented a monster offer to wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on First Things First, his daily FS1 show. Wright, who is unabashedly pro-Chiefs, took his fandom to the max on Monday morning, just a few hours before Beckham’s waiver claim deadline (3 pm CST).

Wright’s enthusiastic pitch included an offer for Beckham to take up temporary residence in Wright’s Kansas City home, a personal tour of the city courtesy of Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, and a lifetime supply of Kansas City barbecue.

After his monologue on the show, Wright tweeted Lucas, who responded:

After a disappointing tenure in Cleveland, Beckham restructured his contract with Cleveland last week as a stipulation of being released just after the NFL’s trade deadline. The restructure made a waiver claim for Beckham a much more bitter option for the rest of the league, as it negated the last two years of his existing deal and piled his entire salary into whoever would claim him.

The 5’11” 200-lb. Beckham has 17 receptions for 232 yards and zero touchdowns in 2021. Adding him to the Kansas City arsenal would certainly cause a buzz in Kansas City, but it would have to come at the right price. As Beckham will certainly be looking for a larger contract in the spring of 2022, Kansas City would certainly pose a tempting offer for him, as it would provide a chance to play with a potent offense. It would also allow him to join forces again with his college teammate, safety Tyrann Mathieu.
