Sterling Shepard

For all the bad news for the Giants on the injury front this week (and in the last few weeks specifically), Sterling Shepard is actually looking like a bright spot who says he’s “super confident” in his ability to play on Monday night. His official designation is “questionable” on the final injury report for New York.

Shepard has missed three of the last four games for the Giants as he’s dealt with hamstring injuries this season. Even as he tried to return in Week 6 and was able to play between stints missing games due to hamstring injuries, his importance to the Giants’ offense was made clear in that quick return as he had 10 catches on 14 targets for 76 yards against the L.A. Rams.

If Shepard is right and he’s ready to go on Monday, he should be targeted early and often since Jones clearly trusts him as a pass catcher. He’s never had less than 83 total targets in a single season and that’s not going to change this year unless he remains injured. Expect Jones to look Shepard’s way on multiple occasions, which makes him an important player for whom the defense must account.
