Saquon Barkley

At this point, Saquon Barkley is not a game-time decision, since the Giants have already ruled him out for Week 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs. That means Barkley is officially out for his third straight game as the team prepares to take on the Chiefs.

While the Chiefs’ defense looked solid against the run last week when they faced Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans, they’ve actually looked horrible this year against most running backs. They’re ranked No. 27 overall in rushing yards allowed and 29th overall (out of 32 NFL teams) in rushing scores allowed, which means Barkley might have enjoyed a banner night on Monday if healthy.

The Giants have Devontae Booker and fullback Elijhaa Penny but the dynamism isn’t there without Barkley in the backfield. It’s hard to tell just how much of a presence Barkley would have had in this game, but even the threat of having the former No. 2 overall selection there at the ready would have helped keep the Chiefs honest.
