The Kansas City Chiefs have been in last place of the AFC West for more weeks this season than they have been in any other position in the standings through Week 7. That still hasn’t stopped Vegas oddsmakers from deciding that the Chiefs are the better bet to win the division over the current leaders: the Las Vegas Raiders. (The Los Angeles Chargers are the favorites to win it all.)

Right now, the Raiders are on top of the AFC West at 5-2. The Los Angeles Chargers are next at 4-2 (they had a bye in Week 7) with the Chiefs and Broncos tied at 3-4 overall. That gives the Raiders a full two-game lead over the Chiefs at present, although it’s important to note that both teams have yet to play a single game in their two-game series against each other in ’21, which means there’s still much to be decided.

The Chiefs have only played a single game in the AFC West so far this season, but they lost that game which was a home contest against the Chargers in Week 3. With so much runway left on the year, every team can claim to still have full control of the way they finish in the division.

Unfortunately, the Chiefs also have a tough schedule outside of the remaining divisional contests. They face the Green Bay Packers, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Cincinnati Bengals outside of another game against the Chargers and two apiece with the Raiders and Broncos. Their next schedule game should be their easiest, a primetime tilt at home against the New York Giants.

  1. Los Angeles Chargers (-110)
  2. Kansas City Chiefs (+225)
  3. Las Vegas Raiders (+350)
  4. Denver Broncos (+2500)
