It has been a rough start for the Kansas City Chiefs as they are off to a surprising 2-3 start and have turnover woes on offense that no one expected. In addition to the on-field struggles, Chiefs fans in the stands have received national attention for the second home game in a row.

After suffering a Week 3 loss to the Chargers, Chiefs fans got into a brawl as fans were trying to leave. It pretty much looked like the WWE Royal Rumble. One fan was clearly knocked out as another continued hitting the knocked-out fan. Two weeks later, Chiefs fans got into it again as one person got knocked out.

For the second home game in a row, viral videos have captured fights in the stands at Arrowhead, and it is unacceptable and it must stop.

Let me just say, in regards to the second fight, I am aware the two members involved are “superfans” and have some sort of personal issue. I don’t care for the backstory to that. It is still embarrassing and classless that an issue between two people led to a knockout at Arrowhead.

It is only a very, very small percentage of fans doing this at Arrowhead. However, it only takes a very, very small percentage of fans to make an entire fanbase look bad. These videos that have captured violence in the stands at Arrowhead have gone viral.

The last time I went to Arrowhead Stadium as a fan was in 2015 when the Broncos visited the Chiefs for Week 2’s Thursday Night Football. I saw dozens of fights around me throughout the game and even saw a female usher, who looked like she was in her 50s or early 60s, trying really hard to break up a fight at one point. That’s one reason why I enjoy watching the games from home more than in person. Why spend all that money on parking, tickets, food and drinks to surround yourself with immature behavior while trying to enjoy a game?

Perhaps the better question is why spend all that money on parking, tickets, food and drinks just to show up to Arrowhead to fight other people, regardless if they are a fellow Chiefs fan or a fan of the visiting team? Considering the Chiefs have gone to the Super Bowl two years in a row, it is no secret that ticket prices are high. Obviously, it is not worth paying all that money to get into a fight to get hurt or arrested and possibly banned from your favorite team’s stadium.

Many parents spend their hard-earned money to take their kids to Arrowhead, some for the first time, only to have to physically shield them from this toxic activity and have to explain it to them later. Some of you might say “keep your kid home,” but that should not be the case. Unfortunately, some parents will probably think twice about taking their kid to Arrowhead after two straight home games of viral videos of fights in the stands.

This kind of behavior is inexcusable, immature, and embarrassing. If you have a personal issue with someone, take care of it elsewhere and preferably in a non-violent manner. I enjoy having a couple of beers at a sporting event just like the millions of people who attend sporting events around the world. But if drinking makes you want to resort to violent activity at sporting events, either don’t drink or please stay home. Arrowhead has always been tabbed as one of the best stadiums in the NFL. Let’s not make it into one of the worst with this kind of activity.
