The Kansas City Chiefs were absolutely dominated by the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night. The only thing that really slowed down the Bills in this game were the thunderstorms that delayed the game by almost an hour. I’m going to be open and honest with you Chiefs fans. I’m in a bad mood. It’s almost midnight as I’m writing this and I have to get up to go to work in about six hours, but before I can sleep I have some things I need to get off my chest. Simply put, the Chiefs are are a complete disaster right now.

I’m sure someone will take to the comments and tell me to “calm down” and point out that it’s a long season and that the Chiefs can still easily make the playoffs and that if they are in the playoffs they have a chance because of Patrick Mahomes. I’m not going to dispute any of that, but the point of this piece is to say that before we can even begin to have those conversations the Chiefs have to get this thing cleaned up because they have been an unmitigated disaster through five games.

Yes, I know that there are plenty of teams with worse records than 2-3, but none of them came into the season with realistic expectations as high as the Chiefs. This was a team coming off of back-to-back Super Bowl appearances and the bar was set as high as possible. The Chiefs haven’t come remotely close to that bar. If this was the Olympics pole vault and the Chiefs were aiming for a gold medal, their first five games are the equivalent of tripping on your run-up, snapping your pole in half and face planting right in front of the bar. It’s been a train wreck.
