Andy Reid‘s record

The pendulum has swing quite a ways since Andy Reid first arrived with the Chiefs.

Coming into the 2013 season, Reid’s first year on the sidelines in Kansas City, the Buffalo Bills were used to rolling over K.C. whenever they met. The Chiefs owned a 3-6 record overall against the Bills since the turn of the millennium, but the Chiefs only had a single win in their previous six games before Reid arrived. The year before Reid, the Chiefs lost by 18 to the Bills. The year before that was a joke of an effort on the part of the Chiefs, as the Bills rolled by a final score of 41-7.

Since 2013, everything has changed for the Chiefs (in more ways than just their record against the Bills, of course). Reid beat the Bills in his first year as head coach by 10 then again the following year. He did it again in 2015 before suffering his only loss to the Bills in 2017, as six-point defeat in midseason. Then the Chiefs didn’t see the Bills again until 2020 when they rolled over them both times—once in the regular season and once in the regular season.

Reid owns a 5-1 record against the Bills as the head coach, and he dominated his old pal Sean McDermott twice last year by pounding out 250 rushing yards in one game and letting Patrick Mahomes own the airwaves in the other matchup. If there’s one primary reason to take heart here, it’s found in Andy Reid’s ability to go to the tape and find the right way to attack the Bills.
