Coming off of two straight losses, it was known in and around Kansas City that a bounce back game was absolutely necessary to avoid the Chiefs’ first 1-3 start since 2015. Fortunately for Kansas City, they were facing the Philadelphia Eagles, a team on the decline coming off a blowout loss in Dallas.

The Chiefs offense has been plagued by turnovers with multiple turnovers the last two weeks against the Ravens and Chargers. Fortunately Patrick Mahomes was able to get things on the right track. By completing 24 of 30 passing attempts for 278 yards and 5 passing touchdowns, the Kansas City gunslinger turned in an incredibly efficient game as the Chiefs look to get back to their winning ways.

With just one turnover coming from a Mahomes interception, the offense set the Eagles on fire on their way to a decisive 42-30 victory at Lincoln Financial Field.

Patrick Mahomes entered the MVP conversation after throwing 5 touchdowns.

Mahomes led the way and entered the MVP conversation at the same time. Mahomes had a game for the ages, logging his first five-touchdown performance since the Chiefs lost in a Monday Night Football shootout to the Los Angeles Rams in 2018, a game in which Mahomes threw 6 touchdowns on his way to winning MVP.

With over 1,200 yards through 4 games, and a 14-to-4 touchdown to interception ratio, Mahomes is on elite pace as we pass the quarter mark of the 2021 season. Mahomes is currently on pace for a 5,000-yard passing season, as well as the NFL record in touchdown passes with 56, giving him a chance at the all-time single-season passing touchdown record. Of course, with a new 17-game season, there are plenty of quarterbacks itching to be the first in the 17-game era to get a crack at the record books.

The Chiefs depart the toughest 4 weeks of their regular season and look forward to easier football in the coming 13 weeks. With matchups against the Titans, Giants, Steelers, and Bengals in the future, the Chiefs enter an easier 13 weeks than the first 4. The coming schedule bodes well for Mahomes’ future success and his likelihood of winning the MVP for the second time in his career.

Rasons to be worried about the Chiefs despite the Week 4 win. dark. Next
