One week ago, as the Kansas City Chiefs were headed into their Week 3 game against the visiting Los Angeles Chargers, two important defenders were designated as “questionable” on the team’s final injury report after being limited in practice.

Both defensive end Frank Clark and boundary corner Charvarius Ward were dealing with injuries to a hamstring and quad muscle, respectively, and were termed as game-time decisions. Both players ended up not playing at all and were left inactive shortly before the game.

For the Chiefs injury report heading into Week 4, a road contest at Lincoln Financial Field to face the Philadelphia Eagles, things are looking very familiar. That’s because both Clark and Ward are still dealign with the same injuries and facing the same designation as last time when they were both ultimately ruled out before the game.

Frank Clark and Charvarius Ward are both termed as game-time decisions for the K.C. Chiefs—again.

Last week, in a very close loss to the Chargers, any sort of edge or greater stop on defense would have undoubtedly put the Chiefs over the top. It’s not hard to imagine that if Ward or Clark had been able to play even a bit, that the Chiefs would have been able to put away the Chargers given how the defense simply caved in the fourth quarter.

The injuries to the defense have been taxing so far and that includes Clark missing Week 1 and Week 3 as well as seeing Willie Gay miss the team’s first three games so far as well. No one is sure whether Gay will be able to play in Week 4 either.

As for other injuries, it’s good news for the Chiefs to see both left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. and defensive lineman Chris Jones practicing in full on Friday after being limited earlier in the week. Jones continues to deal with a wrist injury, while Brown was listed on the injury report with a groin.

The Chiefs and Eagles kick off at 12:00 p.m. C.T. on Sunday, October 3.
