Winners: The AFC West

For the first time in a long time, the Kansas City Chiefs are not atop the AFC West, and that should serve as a huge a boost for their division rivals.

The Chiefs are obviously the best team in their division, and a loss in Week 2 isn’t going to change that. However, it should provide a morale boost to the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers who have seen Kansas City look—dare I say it—vulnerable in their first two games of the season.

The Chiefs have yet to look totally convincing this season. They were forced to win ugly in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns and they wasted numerous opportunities in a disappointing loss to the Ravens in a game they really should have won.

Meanwhile, the Raiders are 2-0 and already have notched a pair of impressive wins. First they beat Baltimore, something the Chiefs clearly were unable to do, and on Sunday, Derek Carr threw for 382 yards and 2 touchdowns as Las Vegas beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh 26-17.

The Broncos meanwhile are 2-0 as well after wins over the New York Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars, and also find themselves above the Chiefs in the division standings. And despite their loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the Chargers have looked like a solid team too and gave the Chiefs plenty of trouble in their two games last year.

The Chiefs should still be heavy favorites to win the AFC West for the sixth time in a row. But at least for the Raiders and Broncos, for the first time in a long time, it’s Kansas City who is doing the chasing.
