KC Chiefs Game Sunday: Chargers vs Chiefs odds and prediction for NFL Week 3 game
By Matt Conner
Who would have thought that the K.C. Chiefs first divisional game of the year, one against the L.A. Chargers, would feature two teams battling it out for last place in the division?
After opening the season against two of the most popular names for contenders in the AFC, the Chiefs are finally entering into the divisional portion of the schedule with their first game against a rival from the AFC West. On Sunday, the Chiefs will host their annual home game against the Los Angeles Chargers in what should be an important game for not only divisional positioning but the greater conference as well.
The Chiefs are still smarting from a shocking loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football, a game in which they led by double digits in the fourth quarter and even had the ball on a game-winning drive that seemed like a cinch to win it. Instead, a fumble by Clyde Edwards-Helaire reversed the team’s fortunes, and Lamar Jackson and company did enough to put Baltimore over the top. The Chiefs are now 1-1, the same record as the Chargers after they also lost in Week 2—to the Dallas Cowboys.
Let’s take an early look ahead at the odds and get a quick prediction on what to expect in Week 3.
Chiefs vs Chargers Odds Week 3
The Week 3 betting odds on WynnBET have the Chiefs as 6.5-point favorites at home, which is quite a spread considering how tough the Chargers typically play the Chiefs. If someone were to take the Chargers here, it wouldn’t be a bad bet considering the Chiefs’ defensive performances. The Chiefs have -300 moneyline odds, while the Chargers play the role of underdog at +238.
As for the over/under line of 55 points, that’s a pretty safe bet to take the over, again considering the defensive struggles on K.C.’s side. Past games have gone under here, but these sorts of shootouts could trend upward.
Chiefs vs Chargers Prediction Week 3
The L.A. Chargers always play the Chiefs as tough as they can, and they’re the division rival that most fans in Chiefs Kingdom likely fear the most—fear being a relative term here. Thus it’s pretty reasonable to expect a close game, even one at home in Arrowhead Stadium. However, the Chiefs know they need to rebound quickly from their embarrassing loss at Baltimore and the defense will especially be keen to prove they can get their act together.
Prediction: Chiefs 27, Chargers 21
