Commercials and endorsements
When you watch an NFL broadcast, you are bound to see Mahomes in a commercial. Some of Mahomes’ endorsement deals include Hunt’s, Oakley, Essentia Water, State Farm, DirecTV, Adidas and Head & Shoulders as well as some endorsements from local and regional companies, such as Goodcents, CommunityAmerica and Hy-Vee.
Two years ago, Arrowhead Addict ranked and rated Mahomes’ top 15 commercials at the time. Since then, Mahomes has done more commercials as new endorsements have come.
In addition to all of his endorsements, Mahomes has been on the cover of EA Sports’ Madden twice. Mahomes was first on the cover of Madden NFL 20 as the Chiefs went on to win their first Super Bowl in 50 years that season. Two years later, Mahomes shared the cover of Madden NFL 22 with Tom Brady. It was the second time both players were on the cover of Madden.
Along with doing commercials with Brady for Madden, Mahomes has teamed up with Aaron Rodgers for State Farm and Troy Polamalu for Head & Shoulders.
Off-the-field involvement
Shortly after winning the league’s MVP award, Mahomes announced the launch of his foundation, 15 and the Mahomies, on with Jimmy Fallon in April of 2019. Mahomes said the foundation is dedicated to helping children in need and improving their lives.
Following the death of George Floyd, Mahomes, along with teammate Tyrann Mathieu, joined several NFL players in an NFL Black Lives Matter video, asking the NFL to condemn police brutality and violence against black people, as well as admitting the league was wrong for its handling of Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid for their protests during the National Anthem.
Mahomes and Mathieu both helped create voter registration drives, encouraging people to register to vote ahead of the 2020 Presidential Election. Mahomes also teamed up with NBA superstar LeBron James in a More Than A Vote campaign to encourage people to register and vote.
Mahomes made Time’s top 100 list of most influential people in 2020. Along with teammate Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Mahomes was one of five athletes named Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year for his involvement in voter registration drives, speaking up against racism and his involvement in helping those in need during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Investments
Mahomes joined the Kansas City Royals ownership group as a minority stakeholder in July of 2020. Almost exactly a year later to the date, Mahomes joined Sporting KC’s ownership group.
Mahomes teamed up with some notable athletes, such as Kevin Durant, Eli Manning and Rory McIlroy, in investing in a technology startup called Whoop. Mahomes is also an equity partner in a sports nutrition company called BioSteel and is a brand ambassador for a performance recovery technology company called Hyperice.
Family man
Perhaps Mahomes’ biggest and best accomplishment would have to be becoming a family man. Right after receiving his Super Bowl ring, Mahomes proposed in September of 2020 to his longtime girlfriend, Brittany Matthews. In February of 2021, Mahomes and Matthews welcomed their daughter, Sterling.
Once again, this is what Mahomes has accomplished prior to his 26th birthday. You won’t find another 26-year-old with a resume as impressive as this. Mahomes has been great on the field, but he has been smart and took advantage of many opportunities outside of football.
If this is what he’s accomplished so far, wait in five, ten years. He will have added plenty more to an already illustrious resume. When he turns 50, don’t be surprised if media coverage includes all of his success and accomplishments, similar to Michael Jordan on his 50th birthday.
