Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is in lots of commercials these days, so it’s time to unveil our definitive rankings.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has become the most coveted player in the NFL by the league’s advertisers. Twelve months ago, Mahomes started the first two games of the 2018 season with 10 touchdown passes, including 6 touchdown passes against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2. That is when the Mahomes craze kicked off. The obsession with Mahomes grew over time as he took home NFL Most Valuable Player honors after passing for 50 touchdowns and more than 5,000 yards.

These days, Mahomes finds himself as the face of the NFL. From his well-known love for ketchup to being a Madden cover athlete or launching his own cereal brand, Mahomes is the most promoted and recognized player in the NFL today.

Whether you are watching an NFL game, another sporting event, reality TV or anything in-between on TV, it is likely that you have seen Mahomes in at least one commercial. Perhaps more.

He is in so many commercials that it allowed us to put together a list of some of the best commercials that feature him. We rank the top 15 Mahomes commercials so far.

No. 15: Goodcents

Grade: C-

This is one of the first commercials that featured Mahomes and the first that was made public in 2019. It was published by Goodcents during the postseason run as it features Mahomes practicing while the commercial promotes and encourages hard work.

While Mahomes will grab everyone’s attention, and although it is nice that Goodcents does promote something positive, the commercial itself certainly does not capture your attention, especially given how long this is and it could have been shorter with the same message still delivered.

No. 14: CommunityAmerica Credit Union

Grade: C

This is the second of two commercials Mahomes’ had done with CommunityAmerica. In it, he gives a speech to pump up his teammates, saying that Kansas City “is on the rise.” This appears to be the longest commercial he has ever been a part of so far.

Like the Goodcents commercial, there is a motivating message during Mahomes’ speech. But unlike the other commercials that you are about to see, it does not have any comedic hook to keep you interested.

No. 13: Hunt’s 1.0

Grade: C+

In several of these commercials, whether it is related to the brand or not, you’ll see a lot of ketchup. In this one, Mahomes denies signing an autograph on a ketchup bottle from another brand, but he then autographs Hunt’s ketchup bottles instead. After Mahomes’ love for ketchup was made public, it was funny to see a couple of kids ask him to sign a bottle.

No. 12: CommunityAmerica Chiefs Checking

Grade: B-

In what is believed to be the first commercial Mahomes had ever been a part of, he is at Arrowhead Stadium passing a football to a grounds crew member, who drove the team cart through a table. In his first commercial, they had it on a football field where they have Mahomes pass the football, but something went wrong in the process. It’s a good first commercial for Mahomes.

No. 11: Hunt’s 2.0

Grade: B

As Mahomes’ love for ketchup was well documented, Hunt’s jumped on the news and snagged Mahomes for a couple of Hunt’s commercials. Here is another one where Mahomes, while working out, is putting ketchup on his food. Sometimes less is more. Mahomes does not have any speaking lines, and as the camera pans down, fans get a kick out of the video.

No. 10: Hy-Vee

Grade: B

We all saw this for the first time during the preseason last month. Mahomes creates a mess in the neighborhood, but makes up for it by delivering Hy-Vee groceries to a few people in the neighborhood. While good, and funny, let’s be honest: if Mahomes really did deliver Hy-Vee groceries, fans might not let him go once he shows up to their door.

No. 9: DIRECTV NFL Sunday Ticket 1.0

Grade: B

Mahomes filmed multiple DIRECTV commercials this offseason. The first one on this list is a good one where Mahomes is taking an ice bath, regretting a decision he made in a game. Meanwhile, a janitor overheard Mahomes and tells him about NFL Sunday Ticket. The janitor has the funny moment in this one where he goes for an ice bath while still in his work attire.

No. 8: State Farm 1.0

Grade: B+

Mahomes joins Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in his famous State Farm commercials. You can expect to hear a “Mahomie” reference in this one.

Besides the two on this list, it is uncertain how many more times Mahomes and Rodgers will team up. But it is pretty cool to see Mahomes be part of the State Farm commercials, which always has Rodgers and mostly Packers teammates as co-stars.

No. 7: Madden NFL 20 Arm Cannon

Grade: B+

As a part of Madden NFL 20, Mahomes’ special feature in the game is “Bazooka,” which allows players to have Mahomes’ maximum throwing distance increased by 15 yards. (Sounds realistic for him.) Mahomes shows off that feature in person with a few youngsters playing the game. The best part: we saw Mahomes show off the bazooka arm, which did create a massive hole in the wall.

No. 6: Madden NFL 20 Launch

Grade: A-

This is the commercial a lot of Chiefs fans were looking forward to. After Mahomes was announced as the cover player for Madden 20, EA Sports released a launch trailer for the game in one of the longest commercials Mahomes has been in so far. It’s not often your favorite player gets to be on the cover of Madden, and this was a lot of fun to watch as it featured other NFL players and DJ Khaled.

No. 5: State Farm 2.0

Grade: A-

Mahomes and Rodgers worked together again in another State Farm commercial. This time, both quarterbacks had very few speaking lines. Both quarterbacks are wearing State Farm jerseys as Mahomes is getting hyped up by his coach in a dream. It would have been nice to see Mahomes show off his arm in this one, though, given that they’re in football gear.

No. 4: Oakley

Grade: A

During the offseason, Mahomes became the first player in NFL history to sign an endorsement deal with Oakley. Shortly after the deal was done, Mahomes starred in a commercial for Oakley. This is probably the coolest one in terms of visual effects. You rarely see a commercial like this, especially in sports.

No. 3: Amazon Web Services

Grade: A

NFL Next Gen Stats, powered by Amazon Web Services, had a unique commercial featuring Mahomes’ on-field ability to escape pressure from a defense while in the pocket, then squeezing in a touchdown pass with a small passing window. In addition, we got another ketchup moment in the end. That definitely caught your attention. Especially if you’re a Chiefs fan.

No. 2: DIRECTV NFL Sunday Ticket 2.0

Grade: A

DIRECTV was able to get Mahomes to do more than one commercial to help promote the company’s popular NFL Sunday Ticket. This time, Mahomes is in the huddle with the Chiefs offense as a “fan” finds himself in the huddle, leading to a funny exchange. It would be pretty cool to be in a real huddle with Mahomes just once.

No. 1: Head & Shoulders

Grade: A+

Mahomes teamed up with former Steelers safety Troy Polamalu to create a hilarious Head & Shoulders commercial. In addition to his illustrious career, Polamalu was also known for his hair as a player. It makes perfect sense to have him do a shampoo commercial with Mahomes. This one had it all during the exchange between Mahomes and Polamalu. It also did spark a debate on social media by some about the pronunciation of “gif.”

The Chiefs are the NFL's antihero. dark. Next
