What. A. Weekend. Man, sitting in front of the TV for nearly 12 hours on Sunday ingesting every crumb of football I could just felt a little different this year. Don’t get me wrong, I am always hyped for NFL Football. Seeing the fans back, the excitement across social media, hearing it in the announcers voices, seeing it in the players body language— it just had more juice this year. The games themselves didn’t disappoint either.

Fantasy football also made its return. I went into Sunday Night Football down 19.8 points, and I cheered like I was back at Arrowhead when Cooper Kupp sprung free for a giant touchdown that sealed a win for me. The pure euphoria of that single moment reminds me why I love fantasy so much. Don’t worry, I will suffer a crushing defeat sometime this fantasy season, and I will eat my humble pie right here for the world to see. Until then, it is victory lap time!

Okay, that victory lap didn’t last long. Because last week, for the K.C. Chiefs and Cleveland Browns matchup, I said to start Baker Mayfield. My line of thinking was that the Browns would be playing from behind, so Baker would be slinging the pigskin. I was right that Mayfield would go over 300 yards (he had 321) but I was way off in guessing he would have three touchdowns (he had 0).

With that being said, I will take my lumps here and move on. I am 0-1 on the season so far in this section, and I promise to hold myself accountable moving forward every week. Honestly, I am not looking forward to next week either, because the player I am picking here to have a surprise fantasy game is risky with a capital R. With that being said, let’s get to my start of the week.
