Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs really let us have it this week. I’m the perpetually anxious fan who sits on her couch and believes we will lose. I should get used to remembering we have an actual alien at quarterback. Patrick Mahomes did it again. He really is the best. I am constantly in awe and have written about that this week. His connection with Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce is other worldly and you have to play a perfect game to beat the Chiefs.

There’s room to improve, no doubt, but I believe the return of Tyrann Mathieu (extend him) will help fix a lot of communication issues in the backfield and the return of Frank Clark will likely help the pass rush. I’m anxious to see Willie Gay Jr. take the field because I believe the full strength of the Chiefs is something no team can stop.

The Chiefs came out of this game the healthiest of all AFC West teams with only Anthony Hitchens tweaking his elbow. I remember the play and he came out for a bit, but was back in the lineup following halftime. Probably nothing but at least something worth keeping an eye on as we head into this week of practice.

Looking forward, the Chiefs get a Ravens team that has been ravaged by injuries. However, there are still some really interesting story lines heading in. First, it’s the revenge game for Sammy Watkins, Le’Veon Bell, and Orlando Brown Jr. We almost saw Marcus Peters again, but he tore his ACL and is out for the season. We also get the Lamar Jackson v. Patrick Mahomes story. Frankly, Lamar hasn’t been able to beat the Chiefs yet so is Sunday the day? It’s all going to come to a dramatic head on Sunday night in Baltimore. I’m ready for Sunday to get here quick!

Folks, this season is certainly going to be a fun one to watch. The Chiefs are as dynamic as ever and the division is getting more competitive which is sure to make for some dramatic finishes down the line. I’m pumped, and I hope you are too. Cheers, Chiefs Kingdom. We’ll see you next week. Go Chiefs!
