You’re ready for it. We’re ready for it. It’s officially game day for Chiefs Kingdom and whatever fans of the Cleveland Browns call themselves. We really don’t care, to be honest.

What has our attention is the fact that the K.C. Chiefs have a date with destiny next February, but it’s a journey that begins with a first step on Sunday afternoon when they host the Browns in Week 1. After a full offseason filled with some exciting activity as well as some boring weeks in the early summer, we’re more than ready to see Patrick Mahomes and company extend their legacy and put the Browns on the ropes.

As we prepare for Week 1, we wanted to make sure you had all the information you need for today’s game.

Chiefs Injury Report vs Browns Week 1

When it comes to injuries, the Chiefs are looking fairly solid compared to other NFL franchises, but they aren’t without their concerns. While players like Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif are back and healthy for the regular season after dealing with preseason concerns, the Chiefs are still without backup lineman Austin Blythe for the game, who remains out after a sports hernia surgery.

Beyond those, the Chiefs’ biggest concerns were alleviated when they got Tyrann Mathieu back from the COVID/reserve list at the eleventh hour on Saturday afternoon. Defensive end Frank Clark and defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi are also questionable heading into the game, though both are expected to play.

Odell Beckham Jr. injury update

The Browns have listed Odell Beckham Jr. as questionable for the opening game of the 2021 season, which is understandable given that he hasn’t played since midseason last year before going down with an ACL tear. Even if he plays, will he return to form? How ready is he? Mary Kay Cabot says he’s been termed “all systems go,” so perhaps his injury designation is a bit of a smokescreen.

Chiefs vs Browns Odds and Betting Pick Week 1

WynnBET’s Week 1 NFL odds have the Chiefs favored by 5.5 points at home. The line has closed a bit from the beginning of the week, which saw K.C. favored by an extra half point, which means the Browns are earning a bit more respect from bettors. That’s understandable given that they enjoyed a solid offseason, by all accounts. That said, a new defense will take time to come together and the Chiefs know how to attend to business at the start of a season, especially at home. Even with the spread, the Chiefs should still win this by enough to pick them here.
