Patrick Mahomes leads NFL’s Top 100 list for first time

The NFL’s Top 100 Players list for 2021 has reached its climax, which means we’re finally ready to see where Patrick Mahomes has landed. In this ranking system tied to the votes of his peers, the K.C. Chiefs quarterback has come in at No. 1 for the first time in his short NFL career.
Mahomes has been ranked at No. 4 overall in the NFL in each of the last two years but for the first time, he’s not trailing the likes of Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady.
Elsewhere on the NFL’s list, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce landed at No. 5 overall. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill came in at No. 15, defensive lineman Chris Jones was at No. 34, and safety Tyrann Mathieu was No. 58.
Mahomes is the odds-on favorite to win another regular season MVP award after taking home the Most Valuable Player trophy after his first full season as a starter in 2018 and following it up with consecutive runner-up positions—behind Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens in 2019 and Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers last season.
Patrick Mahomes lands in the NFL’s Top 100 players list for another season.
Around that time, Mahomes also earned himself a Super Bowl MVP award in 2019 after delivering the first championship to K.C. in 50 NFL seasons. Mahomes also earned three Pro Bowl nods in the last three seasons—an obvious side note given his level of productivity on the field.
In 2020, Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 14-1 record in the regular season and another deep postseason run before coming up short in a Super Bowl loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mahomes threw 38 touchdown passes against only 6 interceptions on the season and led the NFL in passing yards/game with 316.
